FAQ

Q. What is this site for?
A.
Streaming Soon provides information on the latest movies that Netflix says are coming soon to their Watch Instantly streaming video service.

Q. Can't I get this information from Netflix?
A.
Yes, but only if you look at individual titles. Netflix does not have a page dedicated to identifying titles coming to Watch Instantly, nor do they provide any way to search for these titles. We try to fill that void by providing a page that tells you what titles are coming to streaming and when they'll be available.

Q. Do you work for Netflix?
A.
No. We're just a couple of Netflix subscribers who enjoy Netflix's streaming video service. Streaming Soon is not owned, run by, or affiliated with Netflix in any way.

Q. How do you find out about movies that will be streaming soon?
A.
We manually search Netflix's site and view the synopsis of each film, which tells you what formats the movie is available in (DVD, Blu-Ray or streaming). When we find one that's identified as "streaming coming soon" or streaming on a certain date, we add it to our page. We also rely on input from our readers to help us find out about new titles. Email us or leave a comment if you have a title to add to our list.

Q. How often do you update the site?
A.
We update daily, but there are days when our Netflix searches come up empty. You can count on additions and new dates several times a week, at least.

Q. How can I search your site for a specific title?
A.
Mac Users can hold down ⌘ and press F to bring up the search box where you can type in a title. Windows users can hold down CTRL and press F for the same purpose.

Q. Netflix tells me when movies in my rental queue will be streaming, so why do I need your page?
A.
We can help you discover movies you might not be aware of, or maybe find old favorites that you wouldn't mind seeing again but don't want to use a spot on your DVD rental queue for. And if you see a movie on our site that looks interesting, you know you won't have to wait for it to climb up your rental queue to see it. You'll be able to watch it instantly in the near future!

Q. What is your Twitter for?
A.
In our case, we use it to brief you on new additions to our list, as well as updated dates, and highlights. We take care to not bombard the user with 20 Tweets a day, unlike some sites. You can also message our Twitter account with any titles you find on your own. It is a supplement to our site, and is located at Twitter.com/streamingsoon.

Q. What are some other communities you're a part of?
A.
On Ning, We're active in The Netflix Community, and Netflix Cinemajig Too. In the Roku universe, we love the Roku forums. All of these communities are great ways to talk with us, or to mention new titles you've found. They're also great for general Netflix & streaming video discussions as well.

Q. Why is (insert movie here) listed on your site when Netflix doesn't say it will be streaming?
A.
We get some of our info from a mysterious super duper top-secret database in the Netflix Application Programming Interface (API). Sometimes this info is different from what's publicly displayed on Netflix. The database is usually correct, though we do find errors now and then. If you see a movie on our site that's not listed as coming soon in Netflix, we're pretty confident it'll be streaming in the near future.
